ˇ They got there at seven yesterday morning.
χ They got to there at seven yesterday morning.
Photo: Adobe Stock l 圖片:Adobe Stock
註:there 是副詞,通常前面不該有介詞,也不可用 *I come to here,應說 I come here。但from here/there, near here/there, over there, up here/there 等都可以用。例如:
Let’s go up there.
Do you see that man over there?
Photo: Adobe Stock l 圖片:Adobe Stock
I can’t see it from here.
ˇ Sometimes he goes home on the weekend.
χ Sometimes he goes to home on the weekend.
註:home 用作副詞時,前面不加 to,例如:come home、go home、Is he home yet?(他到家了嗎?)、I saw him on his way home.、He arrived home.
He is at home.、I went to his home.,這裡 home 用作名詞。
ˇ When do you go to work every day?
χ When do you go to work in every day?
註:every day 前面不用 in, 也不用 on。this morning, this afternoon, this evening, next week, next month, next year 等前面也不用 in,但是 in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, in the night (at night), in the next week/month/year 等語中都用 in。
ˇ They are working hard to serve their clients.
χ They are working hard to serve for their clients.
This bundle of clothes serves very well as a pillow.
ˇ She married Mr. Chang two years ago.
ˇ She and Mr. Chang married two years ago.
ˇ She and Mr. Chang got married two years ago.
χ She married with Mr. Chang two years ago.
He married very young.
He didn’t marry until he was forty.
He is going to marry Miss Lin.
They were/got married soon after the Civil War.
但 to marry 或 to be married 都不可以接 with:
誤:*She married with Mr. Chang.
She was married with Mr. Chang.
She and Mr. Chang got married.(她和張先生結婚。)
She married (/was married to) Mr. Chang.(她嫁給張先生)
She is married.(她已結了婚。)

The US-Israeli war with Iran, which began on Feb. 28, has killed thousands of people, destabilized the Middle East and rocked global energy markets by effectively closing the strait. WHAT IS THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ? Lying between Oman and Iran and linking the Gulf north of it with the Gulf of Oman to the south and the Arabian Sea beyond, the strait is 33km wide at its narrowest point, with a shipping lane just 3km wide in either direction. Perhaps the world’s most important energy shipping channel, the waterway is about 167km long. Following through on an old threat, Tehran effectively closed the strait
When you twist open a bottle of carbonated water, bubbles rush out with a hissing sound. This drink is simply water infused with carbon dioxide (CO2) under pressure, giving it that fizz on your tongue. But this basic description barely scratches the surface of the carbonated water family. Although all carbonated waters are bubbly, slight differences set them apart. Seltzer is just plain water with artificial CO2—no minerals, no extras. Club soda includes added minerals such as sodium bicarbonate, which creates a slightly salty flavor. This makes club soda suitable for mixing with fruit juices. Sparkling water, on the
