A leader is doing his job properly when he chooses the right subordinates and manages them well. One judges a leader by looking at his subordinates.
A few years ago, the rumor was that people working for President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) were getting rich whereas those people working for the Vice President Annette Lu (呂秀蓮) were getting wonderful acknowledgments but not the riches. The problem with rumors is they spread quickly.
Corruption is the greatest threat to Taiwan. It undermines the social and economic well-being of a nation.
The KMT can be blamed for its past corruption. But like the KMT, the DPP has failed to run a clean government.
The legislature is no better. But hopefully, the judicial system is.
Otherwise, Taiwan may have to change its official title from the "Republic of China" to the "Republic of Corruption." At least it wouldn't have to change the abbreviation.
