Thunderstorms are expected to affect northern Taiwan from this evening, while eastern Taiwan is likely to experience showers, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said yesterday.
Today, weather conditions during the day would remain similar to yesterday’s, CWA forecaster Liu Pei-teng (劉沛滕) said.
Tonight, an approaching front would bring rain and thunderstorms to coastal areas in Keelung and other areas in northern Taiwan, Liu said.

Tomorrow, the front would pass Taiwan as a northeasterly monsoon strengthens, bringing thunderstorms to northern Taiwan and expanding the rainfall area to central and eastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), Liu said.
On Saturday, the northeasterly monsoon would weaken, with showers expected in coastal areas in northern Taiwan, Yilan County and Hualien County, as well as mountainous areas in Taipei and New Taipei City, Liu said.
Scattered showers are also expected in Taipei, New Taipei City, Taitung County and the Hengchun Peninsula, while afternoon thunderstorms could occur in mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan, Liu added.
