Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corp’s Jhunan Brewery, the nation’s largest beer brewery, has been certified by the Bureau of Tourism as a tourist facility and opened to the public on Tuesday.
Brewery manager Lien Chueh-yung (連學庸) said the factory in Miaoli County’s Jhunan Township (竹南) offers guided tours of the facility, which features a beer museum, multimedia presentations, souvenirs, question-and-answer sessions, “and of course, tastings of freshly brewed beer.”
The brewery was renovated from what was the Fusing Brewery in 1992 to focus entirely on beer production and can churn out up to 2.16 million hectoliters of beer per year, or the equivalent of 360 million 600ml bottles, Lien said.
