1. 他不是我們的同學。

ˇ He is not one of our classmates.
χ He is not an our classmate.
註：沒有 an our classmate 這樣的說法，可以說 He is one of our classmates. 或 He is a classmate of ours.。如果說 He is no classmate of ours. 則有「我們沒有這樣的同學」的貶意。

2. 他是她的老朋友。
ˇ He is an old friend of hers.
χ He is an old friend of she.
註：an old friend of she 不合習慣，應改作 an old friend of hers。He is a friend of my father. 雖不及 He is a friend of my father’s. 普遍，但並不算錯誤。
3. 那時我們三姐妹在湖邊。
ˇ My two sisters and I were at the lakeside then.
χ Three of our sisters were at the lakeside then.
註：three of our sisters 是指「我們姐妹中的三人」（不指三姐妹）。My two sisters and I 是我們姐妹三人。
4. 第一個發現這個秘密的是我。
ˇ It was I that first discovered the secret.
χ It was me that first discovered the secret.
註：I 是主詞補語，照傳統文法它的格應和主詞相同，最好使用主格。以下三句雖不合傳統規則，但現在比傳統學校教的正規用法更普遍，在現代英語裡，這個規則已打破了，所以考試中不宜出現這類的問題。

I wouldn’t do that if I were her.
5. 我比他年齡小。
ˇ I am younger than he.
χ I am younger than him.
註：在 than 和 as 後面的代名詞，用主格或用受格，決定於這個代名詞在從屬句中的作用。這句若不省略，應該是 I am younger than he is (young).。
*但在現代英語裏，I am younger than him. 也更常聽到。
