Ad seeking nude actors, actresses sparks controversy

    By Flora Wang

An undergraduate student at the National Taiwan University of Arts recently sparked a controversy by posting an ad on the nation¡¦s major university bulletin board system (BBS) looking for actors and actresses who were willing to appear nude and masturbate in front of a camera for a short film.

The sophomore, who only identified himself by his screen name ¡§Tony,¡¨ said in an article posted on the Part-Time Job Discussion Board on National Taiwan University¡¦s Professional Technology Temple BBS that he was looking for two actors and two actresses who were willing to star in an experimental film.

There would be no lines to learn for the film, but the actors and actresses would have to be naked and ¡§have physical contact with other actors and actresses, such as caressing all over their body, kissing them or even masturbating in front of the camera,¡¨ the student said in the ad posted on Friday.

The article was deleted by moderators of the discussion board because Tony did not specify the salary on offer. Nevertheless, his ad immediately drew criticism from some BBS users, who accused Tony of intending to shoot a pornographic video.

Other users appeared to be more supportive, saying that Tony¡¦s film would be a work of art.

Wu Pei-tz (§d?, director of the university¡¦s Department of Motion Picture, said the school respected students¡¦ creativity.
