To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disney Pixar's movie Toy Story, the festival has partnered with Walt Disney Co (Taiwan) to host a special themed area on Dihua Street with a "Dadaocheng Retro Toy Store."
Meanwhile, Yanping Riverside Park (平河濱公園) is to host light installations and four large-scale Toy Story-themed photo spots with beloved characters including Woody and Buzz Lightyear, it said.
Traffic control measures would be implemented in the surrounding area beginning tomorrow at 7pm, including road closures and restricted access around the floodgates, it said.
Tomorrow at 6pm, the festival is to commence with a performance by the band Power Station.
Music is to continue until 9pm, with a five-minute-long firework show scheduled for 8pm, deparment Director Yu Hsiang (余祥) said.
The first show, "Glow Flow," is to use purple, multi-layered fireworks to “symbolize Dadaocheng’s harmonious blend of rich historical heritage and modern vibrance, evoking deep emotional connections to this cherished land,” the event Web site says.
Visitors to Taipei are recommended to enjoy a three-day, two-night stay in Taipei to watch the fireworks and live music on Wednesday, before spending Thursday at the Taipei Water Festival at Taipei Water Park in Zhongzheng District (中正) or the water park at Taipei Children’s Amusement Park in Shilin District (士林), Yu said.
Other local attractions in Shilin include the Taipei Astronomical Museum, Meilun Park (美崙公園) and Shilin Night Market, she said.
On Fridays, families can check out the National Taiwan Science Education Center, National Taiwan Arts Education Center, Taipei Zoo or the ice rink at Taipei Arena Ice Land, she added.
