The Taoyuan Airport MRT is to operate early express train services from Taipei Main Station to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on a three-month trial basis, Taoyuan Metro Corp announced on Saturday.
The earliest train is to depart from Taipei Main Station at 5:30am daily during the trial run to accommodate demand for early morning rail services to the nation’s biggest international airport, the company said.
During the three-month trial period, Taipei Main Station is to open at 5am, while Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 2 stations would open at 5:30am, the company said.

The trial initiative is an extension of additional services scheduled around Lunar New Year to accommodate increased passenger demand during the holiday period.
Taoyuan Airport MRT added two early express trains from Taipei Main Station to the airport leaving at 5am and 5:30am daily from Jan. 24 to Sunday last week, the company said.
An average of 110 passengers per day took advantage of these early trains, the company’s data as of Jan. 31 showed.
Taoyuan Metro Corp said it adjusted its plan and decided to extend the early service program for three months from Monday based on its latest passenger data.

The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) held a protest with the theme “against green communists and dictatorship,” and was joined by the Taiwan People’s Party. Lai said the opposition parties are against what they called the “green communists,” but do not fight against the “Chinese communists,” adding that if they really want to fight dictatorship, they should go to the right place and face
