Timea Babos claimed the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger title yesterday after upsetting top seed Misaki Doi in the final at the Taipei Arena, while unseeded Japanese duo Kanae Hisami and Kotomi Takahata brushed aside the third seeds to win the doubles.
Hungarian fourth seed Babos took 1 hour, 17 minutes to complete a 7-5, 6-3 victory in the singles final yesterday, claiming the title after not dropping a set all week.
The world No. 84 saved all five break points she faced and converted two of six, winning 71 of the 129 points contested to claim only her second WTA Tour singles title and the first since her victory in Monterrey in 2012.

In the doubles, Hisami and Takahata followed up their semi-final victory over second seeds Chan Chin-wei of Taiwan and Junri Namigata of Japan on Saturday with an emphatic 6-1, 6-2 victory over third seeds Marina Melnikova of Russia and Elise Mertens of Belgium in just 55 minutes.
