Self-introduction
當你在進行求職面試（interview）的時候，如果這份工作未來會用到英文，那麼面試官（不論是人事經理或是部門經理）極可能會請你當場做一下「英文自我介紹」（English self-introduction）；或是直接用英文對你說：「Would you please briefly introduce yourself in English.」。

這個時候，如果你能用3到5分鐘做一個流暢的英文自我介紹，這表示你對國際職場充滿旺盛的企圖心，肯定會為你的面試加分。反之，試想如果你用忸怩的肢體語言告訴面試官：沒有準備英文的自我介紹，那絕對是專業能力的扣分，想要得到這份工作的可能性大大降低！
因此，永遠都要準備好一份5分鐘的英文自我介紹，並在求職面試之前加以演練。英文自我介紹說易不易、說難不難，如果能掌握以下幾個「心法」，就會是一個為自己增加好印象的專業表現。既然職場上常常要能來上一段英文自我介紹，那它當然也就會出現在英文溝通能力檢定評量－多益測驗的測驗題裡；要想多益高分，這是一個重要職場情境！
心法三：
You certainly need to rehearse and practice your self-introduction until you are comfortable with it.
（你當然需要預演練習，一直練到你有信心。）
「凡事預則立，不預則廢。」這句話是說：不論做什麼事，事先有準備，就能得到成功，不然就會失敗。英文自我介紹的道理亦同。當你準備好一份3到5分鐘的英文自我介紹之後，一定要在你的家人或朋友面前做演練（rehearse and practice），請他們告訴你需要改進的地方。你不會希望你在面試官前的英文自我介紹是吞吞吐吐的，所以你要事前練習。你甚至可以用手機錄下來做自我修正。練習直到「you are comfortable with it」，這裡的comfortable不是指「舒服的」，而是指你感到自在、有信心。
你不一定要把這整份英文自我介紹背起來，但至少要練習到很流暢。不妨把開頭的兩三句記住，以降低緊張的情緒。例如你可以這麼起頭：
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Tom Yo and I have been a professional chef for five years. In this role, there have been two things I love most – cooking and meeting people.
（我要向你介紹一下我自己。我的名字是Tom Yo，五年來我是一個專業主廚。在這個角色上，我喜歡做料理與跟人接觸。）
EXAMPLE :
試試看以下這則英文自我介紹：
Currently, I work for CPC, the biggest trading company in Taiwan, where I have been an accounting analyst for 2 years. My job description includes financial reporting, planning, and cost management.

當你熟悉了國際職場裡的英文自我介紹，那以下這一題多益測驗（TOEIC）在Part 3的Short Conversations（簡短對話）的仿真試題可就難不倒你了：

Man: Have a seat, please, Miss Brown. I have looked over your resume. Now, I have some questions for you. First, would you tell me the reasons that you left your previous job and want to join our company?
Woman: Well, the last company I worked for is a big one, but I prefer a start-up, where there is something I can learn from.

男：Brown小姐，請坐。我已看過了妳的履歷表。現在，我有一些問題想要請教妳。首先，妳離開之前工作而要加入本公司的原因為何？

解析：
正確答案是(D)。本題是多益測驗的Part 3題型，每次測驗會有30題的Short Conversations（簡短對話），通常是一男一女，各說話兩次，每次的長短就如以上例題。
本句的題目是問「說話者在做什麼？」從男士所問「已看過你的履歷表；妳為何離開之前的工作而想加入本公司？」的對話來看，應該是在進行面試，所以(D)為正解。
如果你能在求職面試時，成功地向面試官進行一個3到5分鐘的英文自我介紹，這可是「先聲奪人」的搶得先機，對你未來的職業生涯肯定大有助益，信心也會增進不少! 前述的三個「心法」要確實掌握住！
