The slayings of six men in a condominium in a Vancouver suburb do not appear to be random, police said.
Police told residents of the 15-story building to lock their doors and refuse visitors. But they also tried to calm nearby residents' concerns on Saturday.
"It looks like ... the people may have been targeted, or they knew who their attackers were," Corporal Dale Carr of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. "I just want to try and ... assure people that that's kind of what we're looking at."
Carr told reporters on Saturday that the person who found the bodies called in a gas leak on Friday because he believed the people had been overcome. However, when a hazardous materials crew arrived, they called police, who knew immediately it was a crime scene.
"You can only imagine that it's a bit of a grisly scene," Carr said. "Our officers have been in and are going through the crime scene very methodically."
Carr said investigators were looking at many scenarios, including murder-suicide, a domestic dispute, or that the killings may be gang related.
Carr called the crime scene "very complex" and said police could investigate for several days.
"I can confirm there's certainly blood in the scene, how graphic it is I'm just not prepared to go into at this time," Carr told reporters outside the building.
The ongoing investigating means residents of the 10 living units on the top floor -- where the bodies were found -- have had to find other places to stay.

It is one of the world’s most famous unsolved codes whose answer could sell for a fortune — but two US friends say they have already found the secret hidden by Kryptos. The S-shaped copper sculpture has baffled cryptography enthusiasts since its 1990 installation on the grounds of the CIA headquarters in Virginia, with three of its four messages deciphered so far. Yet K4, the final passage, has kept codebreakers scratching their heads. Sculptor Jim Sanborn, 80, has been so overwhelmed by guesses that he started charging US$50 for each response. Sanborn in August announced he would auction the 97-character solution to K4

Rapid militarization in the northern Pacific gets insufficient attention, the Pacific Center for Island Security said, adding that it makes island populations a potential target in any great-power conflict. “If you look at the number of US and bilateral and multilateral exercises, there is a lot of activity,” Leland Bettis, the director of the group that seeks to flag regional security risks, said in an

The court said the far-right firebrand — who was sentenced to 27 years in prison over a scheme to stop Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from taking office after the 2022 elections — had attempted to disable his ankle monitor to flee. Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes said Bolsonaro’s detention was a preventive measure as final appeals play out. In a video made
