Taiwan-based China Airlines (CAL) and Czech Airlines (CSA) have launched a new Taipei-Frankfurt-Prague passenger code-share service, which will bring greater convenience to passengers traveling between Taiwan and Eastern Europe, CAL said yesterday at the launching ceremony.
Under the program, passengers on either airline who travel on any one of the five flights from Taipei via Frankfurt to Prague and four flights back to Taipei available each week can travel and make reservations using either the "CI" or "OK" code.
Along with the new service, CAL also introduced several "Dynasty Tour" packages to Taiwanese visitors to the Czech capital, including airport transportation and city tours complete with Chinese tour guides.
Commending Taiwan as a respected business center of worldwide importance, Czech Airlines vice president Jiri Devat hoped that cooperation between Taiwanese and Czech businesses can be further strengthened through the service.
"We believe there is huge potential both for business and leisure travel between Taipei and Prague," Devat said.
Ringo Chao (趙國帥), CAL chairman and president, said at the ceremony that he hoped the code-share service, which will begin tomorrow, will help "Taiwanese to more easily witness the beauty of Prague, a historical city full of artistic atmosphere."
Congratulating the two airlines on their collaboration, Lin Shinn-der (林信得), deputy director general of the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) said: "Hopefully the economic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the Czech Republic can be further developed through the code-share service."
"We also hope that the two sides can have direct flight service soon," he said.
