Soong, who served as Taiwan provincial governor from 1994 to 1998, said that Chen imputed the high non-performing rate of banks under the Taiwan Provincial Government to him because he defeated Chen in the governorship election in 1994.
"Chen wanted revenge for his failure in the election so he made up the accusation about me," Soong said.
Soong also teased Chen about the new Justice Building, saying that Chen worried more about the design of the bathrooms in the building than the law.
Soong made the remarks after he appeared at a press conference for international media with Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairman Lien Chan (
On Tuesday, Huang said that Soong had accepted a political donation of NT$3 million from him in 1994, and that Soong was a politician who would keep his promises to do favors to his contributors.

Soong said that there was no evidence to support Huang's accusation and he did not understand Huang's motives.
Soong also asked the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to instruct its supporters to accept the result of the presidential election to prevent riots.
"You can lose the election but you cannot lose the principles of your party," Soong told the DPP.

The legislation seeks to ease constraints on Taiwan-US cooperation in uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), including dependence on China-sourced components, limited access to capital and regulatory barriers under US export controls, a news release issued by Cruz on Wednesday said. The bill would establish a "Blue UAS
