Hirokazu Ibata drove in all four runs yesterday as Japan's Chunichi Dragons downed Taiwan's Uni-President Lions 4-2 in the Asia Series.
Kenta Asakura pitched two-run ball over six innings, allowing seven hits while striking out five and walking one for the win. Four relievers held the Lions scoreless in the final three frames.
Both teams are 1-1 after two games.
The series features the top teams from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, as well as a select team from China's pro league.
Teams from Japanese professional baseball have won the previous two tournaments.
Earlier yesterday, Mike Romano pitched five shutout innings as South Korea's Sk Wyverns trounced the China Stars 13-0 in a game that was called in the seventh inning due to the mercy rule.
