Arrigo became involved in opposition politics towards the end of the 1970s and in 1978 married former DPP chairman Shih Ming-te (
Persecuted for his political activities during martial law, in 1980 Shih was imprisoned for ten years for his political activities.
Arrigo was deported from Taiwan in 1979, later blacklisted, and was only allowed back in the country in the 1990s. The two finalized their divorce four years ago.
After returning to Taiwan, Linda quickly returned to her work as a social activist. She has been active in the Taiwan Green Party (
Arrigo recently published a collection of essays in Chinese titled Muckraker! An Overall Critique of the Opposition Movement in Taiwan.
