One was working in the US, the other in Hong Kong, and both had studied in the US. When they met through the arrangement of the Meiman Service Center in Chungli City during the Lunar New Year holiday, they discovered that both of them insisted on finding a Taiwanese partner. And as luck would have it, both of them shared the same best friend.
The man, Tseng Chun-kun, whose family lives in Taipei County’s Banciao City, is currently working as a marketing officer in a company in the US, while the woman, Alice Chang, who comes from a respected family in Taoyuan City, is working in computer marketing in Hong Kong.
Prior to the Lunar New Year, Chang’s mother asked Hsu Nai-yih, head of the Meiman Center, for assistance in the hope that she would find a spouse for her daughter. She said all her daughter’s co-workers where Westerners and Indians and that she hoped to set up a date for her with a Taiwanese man when she returned to Taiwan for the Lunar New Year.
Sitting in the US, Tseng saw the story after it reached the Internet. He called home and asked his parents to get in touch with Hsu, and then he took a 10-day vacation to return to Taiwan.
Hsu said he had a hunch as soon as Tseng showed up, because the couple seemed to hit it off straight away. Unknown to each other, both parties chose the sixth day of the New Year for the date, and when the two arrived at Meiman Center, everyone thought they were a beautiful couple.
Since the first meeting, the two have met again, but they have now returned to the US and Hong Kong. Prior to leaving, Tseng revealed to Hsu that the two had discovered that they shared a common friend. Not long after Chang was transferred from the US to the Hong Kong branch of her company, the friend was also transferred to Hong Kong, and since both were from Taiwan, they became good friends.
Tseng and Chang made a positive impression on each other. The age difference is five years, they both hold doctorates, share the same ideals and insist on finding a Taiwanese spouse. Now that they have found a common friend, Hsu hopes that the two will have the opportunity to become lifelong friends.

The strongest earthquake to hit Taiwan in 25 years killed at least 16 people and damaged dozens of buildings, but the destruction was largely contained thanks to decades of preparedness work. How does April 3 compare with other recent quakes? The April 3 earthquake, which measured 7.4 on the moment magnitude scale, was felt across Taiwan. Around the time of the Dragon Boat Festival in June, the streets of Taiwan are filled with the delightful aroma of zongzi, a traditional snack made of sticky rice wrapped in leaves. The leaves are folded into a cone and then filled with sticky rice and other ingredients such as braised pork belly, peanuts and salted duck egg yolks. The filled leaves are then tightly tied with kitchen twine and ready for cooking. Dragon Boat Festival (n. phr.) 端午節 aroma
Everyone has seen a piece of fruit turn brown after being cut. Have you ever wondered why that happens? It is a common phenomenon that occurs due to a chemical reaction called enzymatic browning. The appearance, flavor and nutritional value of the fruit are all affected by this reaction. Some fruits, such as apples, pears, bananas, avocados and peaches, are more prone to enzymatic browning than others. These fruits contain high levels of an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase, or PPO for short. __1__ This causes a chain of chemical reactions that ultimately transforms the phenolic compounds into
