Mad Melon 瘋狂西瓜
One day Kathleen saw Mark in the garden. He looked very anxious.
"What's wrong?" Kathleen asked.
"The watermelon I'm growing for the Watermelon Awards has barely grown. It isn't big enough to win any prizes, let alone the grand prize," Mark said.
"What have you been doing to help it grow?"
"I've been watering it every day and feeding it plant food."
Kathleen looked at the watermelon. It seemed puny.
"Let's try giving it a shot to help it grow. I have some medicine left over from my knee operation," she said.
They gave the watermelon the shot. It began to grow, and grow and grow. It became too big for the garden.
"This is great!" Mark said. "Tomorrow is the contest, and I'm sure to win."
The next day, Mark's watermelon was the hit of the fair. He won the grand prize for largest watermelon. But when he went to accept his prize, one of the judges ran up and grabbed the microphone.
"I'm sorry to inform everyone that this watermelon has tested positive for illegal growing aids. It has to be disqualified."
Mark was heartbroken. But he wasn't the only one who was upset. Suddenly, the watermelon changed shape. It grew, arms and legs, and began to walk over toward the judge…

某天凱薩琳看到馬克在花園裡，看起來十分焦慮。
凱薩琳問：「發生什麼事了？」
馬克說：「我為了西瓜大賽種的西瓜幾乎沒有變大，它這麼小，根本不可能得到任何獎項，更別提首獎了。」
「你都怎麼幫助它長大呢？」
「我每天都澆水和施肥。」
凱薩琳看了一下那顆西瓜，它看起來小小的。
她說：「我們給它注射一針讓它加速變大吧，我上次膝蓋開刀有剩下一些藥。」
他們在西瓜裡注射了一針，它開始變大、變大又更大，大到花園都塞不下了。
「太好了！」馬克說：「明天就是比賽的日子，我贏定了！」
隔天，馬克的西瓜在展覽會上大放異彩，他贏得最大西瓜首獎。但當他準備領獎時，一個評審跑上前去搶走麥克風。
「我很抱歉必須向各位宣布，這顆西瓜被測出含有違反規定的助長劑，因此它失去參賽資格。」
馬克傷心極了，但他不是唯一不開心的人；忽然，西瓜的形狀變了，它長出手和腳，並開始朝著那位評審走去…（翻譯：袁星塵）
