"What's for dinner?" Kathleen asked Mark one night. "I'm really hungry."

"Well, you could try cooking your own food, you know," Mark answered.

"I know, but if I cooked, it would taste so bad it wouldn't be worth eating," said Kathleen.

"Well, I've cooked every night this week. I'm tired of cooking," Mark said.

"But I'm so hungry! What am I supposed to do?" Kathleen answered, looking very sad. "I know! Let's go out to eat!"

"Are you sure you really want to?" Mark replied. "Restaurants are so noisy and crowded and everyone looks at you while you eat your food."

Kathleen got her way, and she and Mark walked down the street to a restaurant. When they had been at their table for 10 minutes, no one had come to take their order.

"I'm so hungry, I'm about to start chewing on my plate. Where's the waiter?" Kathleen whined.

"I'm hungry too. Have you decided what you want to order? Maybe the waiter won't come over because you're still looking at your menu," Mark said.

Just then, the waiter came over. Kathleen ordered pizza with extra cheese and Mark ordered noodles with tomato sauce.

"And what would you like to drink?" asked the waiter.

"Water is fine," Kathleen answered. "But can you bring me another glass? This one is dirty," she said.

"Kathleen, stop being such a pain," Mark said once the waiter had gone. (Kayleen Hartman, Staff writer)
