LETTERS: Progress on gender equality
Sunday, Feb 17, 2008, Page 8
I would like to share my views with reference to the letter on the military's glass ceiling (Letters, Feb. 14, page 8).
The time is ripe to look back and celebrate the successes of women in almost all fields.
Taiwan should be an example to other countries because of its progress in encouraging equality of the sexes and because it appreciates the success of women and views them as equal to men.
There are no men without women and vice versa.
We should consider it a sin, and it should be a punishable crime, to discriminate on the basis of gender.
We are in the 21st century. The stone age and centuries of civilizations are behind us. Our march toward the future should be a march toward prosperity for everyone, without borders, without gender discrimination.
