Children under the age of 12 who hold Taipei Digital Student Cards or New Taipei Children's Cards can ride local metro systems for free from Friday to Monday to mark Children's Day, Taipei Rapid Transit Corp said yesterday.
During the same period, all Taiwanese children under 12 would have free access to the Maokong Gondola, Taipei Children's Amusement Park and Taipei Arena Ice Land, which are operated by the company's subsidiary, Taipei Metro Recreation, the company said in a news release.

One accompanying parent would receive free admission to the amusement park, while skate and protective gear rentals at Ice Land would still be charged separately.
Taipei Metro Recreation today said that during the period, the amusement park would delay its closing time to 9pm from the usual 6pm, with activities such as adventure challenges and raffles added to the program.
On Children's Day on Saturday, the park is to also host a 40-second fireworks show at 8pm, the company said.
The holiday weekend covers both Children's Day and Tomb-Sweeping Day on Sunday.

Considering that most countries issue more than five denominations of banknotes, the central bank has decided to redesign all five denominations, the bank said as it prepares for the first major overhaul of the banknotes in more than 24 years. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) yesterday reported the first case of a new COVID-19 subvariant — BA.3.2 — in a 10-year-old Singaporean girl who had a fever upon arrival in Taiwan and tested positive for the disease.
