American climber Alex Honnold is to attempt a free climb of Taipei 101 today at 9am, with traffic closures around the skyscraper.
To accommodate the climb attempt and filming, the Taipei Department of Transportation said traffic controls would be enforced around the Taipei 101 area. If weather conditions delay the climb, the restrictions would be pushed back to tomorrow.

Songzhi Road would be fully closed in both directions between Songlian Road and Xinyi Road Sec 5, it said, adding that bidirectional traffic controls would be enforced between Songlian Road and Songshou Road.
On Xinyi Road Sec 5, westbound traffic would be partially restricted, with one lane closed from the Xinyi Square Parking Lot to Songzhi Road, leaving the two inner lanes open, it said.
From Songzhi Road to the Taipei 101 bus stop, outer lanes would be partially blocked, leaving the inner lanes open to traffic, it added.
Meanwhile, pedestrian access would be restricted today from 7am to 11am. During this time, the east sidewalk of Songzhi Road, between Songlian Road and Xinyi Road Sec 5, would be closed, though passage through Xinyi Square would remain open, it said.
The west sidewalk leading to the Taipei 101 office building would remain closed, it said, adding that pedestrians can exit the tower via Shifu Road.
The Xinyi Road sidewalk adjacent to Xinyi Square would be closed. Pedestrians are advised to cross at the intersection of Xinyi Road and Songren Road to reach the south side of the road, it said.
The Xinyi Square (Taipei 101) YouBike station would suspend operations today from 9am to 1pm, it added.
Cyclists are advised to return bikes to nearby stations, including Xinyi and Songzhi intersection (southeast side), Taipei Nanshan Plaza and Taipei Xinyi Sports Center.
From 7am to 11am today, several bus routes would be diverted during the event, including Route 28 (Outbound), Route 46 (Inbound), Route 66, Route 669, Blue 5, City Minibus 7, Keelung Road Metro Bus (Inbound) and the Taipei Sightseeing Bus Red Line, it said.
The Songzhi Road exit of the Taipei 101 Parking Lot would be suspended, with all vehicles required to exit via Shifu Road, it added.
