The northern boarding concourse of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport's long-awaited Terminal 3 is officially to open on Thursday next week, following nearly four weeks of trial operations, Taoyuan International Airport Corp said.
The company recently said that an opening ceremony would be held that day to mark the formal launch of the concourse.
The northern boarding concourse is the first completed facility in the Terminal 3 complex and has been in trial operation since Dec. 1.

Construction of the main Terminal 3 building and the southern boarding concourse is scheduled for completion in 2027, airport authorities have said.
Minister of Transportation and Communications Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) said that he has visited the site several times during the trial period, most recently on Monday.
When the first inbound flights arrived, many passengers and flight crews expressed surprise upon entering the new concourse, often unaware they were among the first to use the facility, Chen said.
Inbound passenger flow has so far been smooth, he said, adding that escalators and large elevators have effectively handled traffic, including passengers with reduced mobility.
Feedback from passengers, airlines and flight crews during the trial phase would be reviewed ahead of the official opening and would also serve as a reference for the rest of the Terminal 3 complex, Chen said.
The Terminal 3 project is based on a government-approved airport development plan and implementation program developed in 2011 and is intended to accommodate rapid growth in passenger numbers while improving service quality, the airport’s Web site says.
Terminal 3 is the largest single public construction project in Taiwan since its major infrastructure initiatives of the 1970s. Its design was selected through an international competition won by British architectural firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.

Starting on Jan. 1, YouBike riders must have insurance to use the service, and a six-month trial of NT$5 coupons under certain conditions would be implemented to balance bike shortages, a joint statement from transportation departments across Taipei, New Taipei City and Taoyuan announced yesterday. Temperatures are forecast to drop steadily as a continental cold air mass moves across Taiwan, with some areas also likely to see heavy rainfall, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said.
