Presidential adviser Lin Hsin-i (林信義), Taiwan’s envoy to this year’s APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea, departed yesterday morning to attend the two-day event that begins on Friday.
Before boarding his flight at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Lin said Taiwan would showcase its strengths in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), smart healthcare, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
He expressed hope that the meeting would help attract investment, deepen international cooperation and raise Taiwan’s profile within APEC.

Lin said that APEC is a vital platform for multilateral economic and trade dialogue, where member economies engage on an “equal footing,” calling Taiwan’s participation a “valuable opportunity.”
At a news conference on Tuesday last week, President William Lai (賴清德) said he had asked Lin to deliver three key messages on Taiwan’s behalf: boosting economic resilience, sharing industrial expertise and advancing people-centered AI to support APEC’s shared vision.
South Korea, this year’s host, has placed a strong emphasis on AI and demographic change, which are priorities that align closely with Taiwan’s long-term policies, Lin said.
The Presidential Office announced Lin’s appointment as Taiwan’s envoy on Oct. 8, citing his extensive experience with APEC operations and related policy discussions as making him the ideal choice.
Lin, who also chairs the government-backed venture capital firm Taiwania Capital, previously represented Taiwan at APEC meetings in 2005 and last year.
