The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a high heat alert for seven cities and counties in western Taiwan today, with temperatures in New Taipei City expected to reach 38°C or higher.
The alert, issued at 7:23am today, warns that parts of New Taipei City could experience temperatures of 38°C or above for three consecutive days or more, while other areas within the municipality may see temperatures of 36°C or higher.
The alert also covers Taipei, Taoyuan, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Tainan and Pingtung County, where daily highs could also reach 36°C or higher.

Across the rest of Taiwan, daytime temperatures are projected to range between 32°C and 34°C, dropping to 26°C to 28°C at night.
The CWA forecasts mostly sunny or partly sunny skies across the nation.
Localized, brief rain is possible in the eastern half of Taiwan and along the northern coast near Keelung, while thunderstorms are likely in regions south of Taoyuan.
The weather is expected to remain stable over the weekend, with the possibility of localized intermittent rain, according to the CWA Web site.
