The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) plans to hold an expansive commemoration for the 100th anniversary of Republic of China founder Sun Yat-sen’s (孫逸仙) death on March 12 next year, KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) said today.
Chu made the announcement at a commemoration for Sun’s 159th birthday, where he and other party leaders put flowers in front of their party founder’s statue.

“Thank you to all party members for gathering today to express the highest respect for our founding father; we are all his followers and come together to honor him,” Chu said.
“Every KMT party member is a disciple of our founder, following the original intention of his revolution,” he added.
All Chinese people are grateful for Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary efforts, even overseas Chinese regard him with the utmost admiration, Chu said.
Asked whether he intends to seek re-election for KMT chairman next year, Chu refused to comment.
He instead emphasized expressing public opinion through bills relating to people’s livelihood and the budget.
