Nantou County police are investigating the death of an officer late on Sunday night, presumably due to a hunting accident.
The officer, surnamed Hsieh (謝), was hunting with his cousin, surnamed Fan (范), in the mountains of Guosing Township (國姓) late on Sunday night.
According to reports, Hsieh was accidentally shot in the back by another hunter who mistook him for wildlife when illuminated by a nearby street lamp.
