Groups from Taiwan and the US have signed three memorandums of understanding to cooperate on the development of electric vehicles (EVs), the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said on Friday.
The memorandums were signed on Thursday by electric bus maker RAC Electric Vehicles Inc and US company Optimal Intelligent Mobility; the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago and Michigan Economic Development Corp; and National Cheng Kung University and Michigan State University, the ministry said in a statement.

Wang was in the US to attend the APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting in Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The business forum focused on how to achieve a goal for innovation, sustainability and mobility set during the APEC meeting, the ministry said.
At the APEC event, Wang talked about how Taiwan maintained the smooth running of air, maritime and land transportation, as well as resilient infrastructure operations, despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry said.
Discussing the role of the transport sector in mitigating climate change, Wang said that as Taiwan set a goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, it has continued to develop green ports, and pushed for offshore wind energy, it said.
He also told delegates how Taiwan takes care of people with disabilities and how it is developing transportation in rural areas, the ministry said, adding that this was relevant as the meeting’s theme was “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All.”
Wang exchanged views with US transportation authorities on topics such as green maritime cooperation, EV supply chain cooperation, uncrewed aerial vehicle management and railway safety, it said.
Wang held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam on the sidelines of the APEC meeting, it added.

The Executive Yuan has proposed the budget for major weapons purchases over eight years, from this year to 2033. However, opposition lawmakers have refused to review the proposal, demanding that President William Lai (賴清德) first appear before the Legislative Yuan to answer questions about the proposed budget. On Thursday last week, 37 bipartisan US lawmakers sent a letter to Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), the heads

The helicopter went missing on Jan. 20 and was later found on a steep slope inside the Nakadake No. 1 Crater, about 50m below the rim. The temple manager later said he had contracted norovirus from family members. Hospitals reported 7,581 visits due to diarrhea on the first three days of the Lunar New
