Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm on Tuesday smashed home runs to spark the New York Yankees over the Toronto Blue Jays 9-6 to stay in contention in the MLB playoffs.
Judge drove in a playoff career-high four runs and matched a post-season best with three hits to spark the Yankees.
“Got to get the job done,” Judge said. “Go out there and have some fun, try to put a good hit on something and see what happens.”

Denying Toronto a sweep in the best-of-five American League Division Series, the Yankees pulled within 2-1 entering Game 4 in New York.
“It’s going to be a battle,” Judge said, referring to yesterday’s game.
The rally from five runs down was the Yankees’ largest-ever comeback in an elimination game and Toronto’s biggest blown-lead loss of the year.

“There’s no panic in this team,” Judge said. “The boys stayed locked in.”
The Blue Jays remain one win from their first AL Championship Series since 2016, but they have not won a playoff series since beating the Texas Rangers in 2016.
The Seattle Mariners grabbed a 2-1 lead in the other AL division series with an 8-4 victory against the Detroit Tigers. The Mariners can reach their first ALCS since 2001 by winning Game 4, which was to be played in Detroit yesterday.
“It’s pretty cool to be in that position, but we’re a long ways away,” Mariners winning pitcher Logan Gilbert said. “Love the momentum we have, but we’ve got to find a way to take it.”
Neither starting pitcher completed three innings in the Yankee Stadium slugfest, but New York’s batters bashed Toronto’s relief pitchers, while the Yankee’s bullpen dominated.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s two-run homer in the first inning put Toronto ahead, but New York answered in the first when Judge singled, advanced when Ben Rice reached base on an error and scored on Giancarlo Stanton’s single.
The Blue Jays seized a 6-1 lead in the third inning starting when Davis Schneider doubled and scored on a Daulton Varsho single.
Ernie Clement, who went four-for-four at the plate, followed with a run-scoring single, while Anthony Santander added a two-run single.
However, the Yankees escaped the five-run hole. Trent Grisham doubled and scored on a Judge double in the third inning and Stanton added a run-scoring sacrifice fly.
When Judge smashed a three-run homer off the left-field pole in the fourth inning, the Yankees equalized at 6-6.
“Thankfully the ghosts took that over and kept it fair for us,” Judge said. “That was a nice one.”
Chisholm blasted a solo homer in the fifth as the Yankees seized their first lead of the series, and Amed Rosario doubled and scored on an Austin Wells single to give them an 8-6 advantage.
In the sixth inning, Judge intentionally walked, advanced on Cody Bellinger’s double and scored on Rice’s sacrifice fly to create the final margin.
In Detroit, Michigan, the Mariners got homers from Cal Raleigh, Eugenio Suarez and J.P. Crawford to overpower the Tigers.
Gilbert struck out seven batters and allowed only four hits over six innings with no walks.
“I was trying to be aggressive,” Gilbert said. “I didn’t get a ton of first-pitch strikes, but the slider was feeling pretty good. Just trying to make them put it in play and good things happened.”
The pressure was already on Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso before their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League raised further questions about his future. Arsenal remain perfect in this season’s competition and three points clear at the top of the standings after a 3-0 win against Club Brugge, while defending champions Paris Saint-Germain were held 0-0 at Athletic Bilbao. The clash between Madrid and City was the standout game of the round amid reports this week that Alonso had lost control of the locker room. Speculation over his position is likely to intensify after the latest

The Olympic flame for the Milan Cortina Winter Games landed in Rome on Thursday following a handover in Greece. The flame was carried in a small lantern aboard an ITA Airways flight between the Greek and Italian capitals. Tennis player Jasmine Paolini — an Olympic gold medalist — and local organizing committee president Giovanni Malago carried the flame off the plane. “I feel honored. It’s an incredible emotion,” Paolini said in brief remarks before the lantern was driven away toward the presidential palace. A 63-day torch relay covering 12,000km is to start in Rome today and wind its way through all 110 Italian provinces
The Kashima Antlers won a record-extending ninth Japanese title on the final day of the J. League season yesterday, holding their nerve to beat the Yokohama F. Marinos 2-1. Watched by Brazilian legend and former player Zico, the Antlers went into the game at their packed home stadium with a one-point lead over Kashiwa Reysol in the table. A goal in either half from Brazilian striker Leo Ceara put the Antlers in control, but Yokohama struck in the first of five minutes of second-half injury time to set up a nail-biting finale, with Reysol winning their game 1-0. The Antlers saw out the
