At San Antonio, Dirk Nowitzki scored 30 points, Jason Terry added 29 in his first start of the season and Dallas sent San Antonio to its first 0-3 record in 35 years.
Dallas (2-2) also got 14 points from Josh Howard. The Mavericks shot 53 from the floor compared to 42 for San Antonio. Dallas outrebounded San Antonio 48-38.
The Spurs (0-3) are off to their worst start since opening the 1973-1974 ABA season 0-4. It was their first season in San Antonio after playing in Dallas as the Chaparrals. The Spurs joined the NBA in 1976.
