When asked her future plans, Chen said she would do everything possible to promote table tennis to the young people of Taiwan. But she did not confirm whether she would retire from the sport or not.
"I accomplished my goal at this year's Olympic Games," the 32-year-old Chen said when evaluating her performance over the last two weeks. Chen said the main goal of going to Sydney for her was to win medals at thee consecutive Olympic Games.

"But who knows, maybe I will still be representing Taiwan at the Athens Olympics in 2004," she said half-jokingly.
Chen said she may cut down the amount of international tournaments she competes in and put more effort into promoting table tennis in Taiwan.

Chen and her coach also addressed the rumor that Chen was given special privileges during the Olympics.

Hsu also explained why Chen did not attend the opening ceremony with the rest of the team.
He said it was the team coach's decision to delay Chen's arrival in Sydney because of her training program.
