The ‘Prosperous 100’ leading Taiwan’s semiconductor industry into a decade of success.「半導體盛世企業100強帶領台灣半導體產業邁向十年盛世。」
The semiconductor industry is looking at a decade of prosperity.
The semiconductor industry is prospering/booming/thriving/flourishing.
或者也可以用grind/come to a halt/stop表示「(某事物)停止」。
The economy grinds to a halt.
The looming global recession? Economic turmoil and instability beckon.
A Forbes article provides investors with ways to be confident when the stock market is in turmoil.
When economic stagnation occurs, the prospect of an increasing unemployment
rate beckons.
COVID-19 caused the demand of air travel to slump/plunge/plummet.
The airline industry has been in a slump, but is expecting a bounce back within two years.
Sam turned his interests in music into business opportunities, from which he made a fortune.
The retail company’s annual revenues/turnover went up by a quarter.
要說明營收「創下新高」時可以說reach a new/record high,或是break a/the record「創下紀錄/打破紀錄」,若要用形容詞來描述,則可說record-breaking「破紀錄的」。
Fruits are usually cheaper in season.
Hotels are less expensive out of season/during the off-season.
1. Despite the inflation and economic instability, the catering industry ushered in the new year with ____ revenues.
(A) record-breaking (B) record-broken (C) breaking-record (D) broken-record
2. The hospitality industry is _______ since the number of foreign tourists is increasing with steady easing of COVID-19 measures.
(A) looming (B) booming (C) slumping (D) stagnating
1. 正解為(A)。 record-breaking形容revenues,可以把想成revenues that broke the record,得知broke是主動動作,故(A)為正確答案。

The new generation born between 2025 and 2039 has been officially named “Generation Beta,” or simply “Gen Beta.” This generation will be the first to experience a world where artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in daily life. Generations are defined by shared cultural, social and historical experiences within a specific time frame. These experiences, often influenced by significant events and technological advancements, shape the values, attitudes and behaviors of each generation. The concept of generations helps us understand how different age groups interact with their environment and contribute to societal changes over time. The previous generational transition from Gen
In late 2024, the suicide of acclaimed Taiwanese author Chiung Yao at 86 sparked a societal debate. She expressed her desire to avoid the difficult aging process and sought to govern her own death rather than leave it to fate. Her statements propelled the issue of “euthanasia” back into the public arena, posing the question of whether Taiwan should legalize euthanasia to grant patients and the elderly the right to die with dignity. Euthanasia, the intentional ending of a life to relieve suffering, is legal for humans in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium but remains prohibited in Taiwan.

In addition to technological developments, they will also face big challenges like severe climate change. Influenced by their Gen Y or Gen Z parents, who view climate change as a critical issue for the future and prioritize sustainability, they are likely to focus more on global issues and seek innovative solutions to address them. Moreover, Gen Beta will experience considerable demographic changes, such as lower birth rates and longer lifespans. Consequently, Gen Beta is predicted to
