The political talk show Da Hua News (大話新聞), known for its pro-localization views, was cited by the National Communications Commission (NCC) as the TV program that had received the most complaints from TV viewers regarding its contents, statistics released by the NCC on Monday showed.
‘INFLATED’
Complaints included the station’s inviting commentators who had no background in finance and economics to provide “inflated” or “false” statistics about the state of the economy and to make “sensational remarks” without citing evidence, the NCC said.
The commission did not provide specifics.
NCC statistics showed that the commission last year received about 1,300 complaints relating to public broadcasts. Of them, more than 1,100 concerned TV programs.
Among cable news channels, NCC statistics showed that SET News (三立新聞), ETTV News (東森新聞) and CTI News (中天新聞) topped the complaints’ list.
PAN-GREEN
More than 60 of the complaints targeted news content on SET, which is known for its pan-green stance.
Eastern and CTI received 31 and 20 complaints respectively, the commission’s statistics showed.
The commission did not reveal the nature of the complaints.

Of the six major venomous snakes in Taiwan, the cobra, the many-banded krait, the brown-spotted pit viper and the bamboo viper are the most frequently captured. The high concentration of bamboo vipers captured in Sinhua District is puzzling. Tainan Agriculture Bureau Forestry and Nature Conservation Division head Chu Chien-ming (朱健明) earlier this week said that the
