Temperatures across the country rose yesterday and are expected to continue rising next week as the cold front that has affected the country for the past two weeks gradually dissipates, the Central Weather Bureau said.
The bureau forecast highs of 16oC in the north, 19oC in central regions, 16oC in the northeast, 22oC in the south, 16oC in Penghu and 16oC on Kinmen Island.
A low of 10oC in the early morning was forecast for Chiayi County because of the influence of radiational cooling, which is particularly pronounced when heat radiates from the earth's surface under clear skies.
Meanwhile, the northeastern and eastern parts of the nation were expected to see sporadic rain and cloudy skies yesterday, with chances of rainfall increasing in most areas tomorrow, the bureau said.
It said temperatures were expected to continue to rise this week, with highs above 20oC in the central and southern regions on Sunday.
Highs of more than 20oC were also expected for the north.
