US teacher, entertainer hospitalized

Taiwan-based Minnesota artist Mark Selikoff has been in a coma since last Wednesday after losing control of his motorcycle and running into the median strip on a road in Taoyuan County.

Selikoff was rushed to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Lin-kou, Taoyuan County, where he has been receiving intensive care.

Selikoff, 37, has been teaching English in Taiwan for the past 15 years and has appeared in a number of local variety shows such as Everyone Talks Nonsense (全民大悶鍋) and Here Come Kang and Hsi (康熙來了) thanks to his Mandarin proficiency.

Chen Wei-min (陳為民), a good friend of Selikoff and a fellow entertainer, immediately rushed to the hospital when he learned that Selikoff was seriously injured in the accident.

After the visit, Chen said that Selikoff would probably not wake up due to severe brain damage.

Upon learning of Selikoff's misfortune, local entertainer Jacky Wu (吳宗憲) pledged to do his best to aid Selikoff's family and help with his medical expenses.
