The Chan sisters crushed their Japanese opponents in the final of the doubles at the Japan Open in Tokyo yesterday as the Taiwanese duo claimed their third WTA Tour title of the year.
Top seeds Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan needed just 62 minutes to wrap up a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Misaki Doi and Kurumi Nara on Court 1 at the Ariake Coliseum.
The victory was all the more special for younger sister Hao-ching, who was celebrating her 22nd birthday yesterday.

The Taiwanese sisters saved all four break points they faced and converted four of six, winning 54 of the 89 points contested.
It was their third doubles title this season following victories in Pattaya in February and in Cincinnati last month.
In the singles, Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium overpowered Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 6-2 yesterday to advance to the final of the Japan Open.

Wickmayer converted all five of her break point chances to dispatch the seventh-seeded Tomljanovic in 1 hour, 27 minutes at Ariake Colosseum.
Wickmayer is to face Magda Linette of Poland in today’s final. Linette ousted sixth-seeded Christina McHale of the US 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Linette got off to a sluggish start, but seized control of the match in the second set when she broke her opponent’s serve three times.
Wickmayer has three career titles, while Linette is seeking her first.
