The Daredevils yesterday took eight catches in the final as they eked out a victory in the Taiwan Cricket Triangular Tournament against PCCT at Yingfeng Cricket Ground in Taipei’s Songshan District.
PCCT’s batting lineup collapsed after they asked the Daredevils to bowl in the T20 decider of the weekend tournament that also involved the Formosa Cricket Club.
PCCT were bundled out for 76 in 16.2 overs against a disciplined Daredevils attack. Ninad Malwade was the top scorer in the innings with 21, but he was among those who offered chances to the fielders.

Shane Ferreira and Jason Cameron took three wickets each, with Sean Carless keeping the catching record at 100 percent as he mopped up an edge that came off wicketkeeper Ben Hall’s gloves.
Hall took the catch of the match, diving full-length to grasp a top-edge from PCCT captain Mujahid Muhammed. A couple of half-chances did go down, but no partnerships could develop as wickets kept tumbling.
Daredevils captain Duane Christie credited the tight lines of his bowlers in keeping the scoring down when the previous matches had been free-flowing.
The reply was just as stuttering. Shezhad Khan took three wickets with his sharp in-swingers and it was left to the tail to scrape together the final few runs after Andrew Carrick, Ferreira, Hall and Craig Mitchell got them close.
“Always a competitive game between PCCT and the Daredevils,” Carrick said. “We haven’t beaten them in a tournament in quite a few years. It’s nice to be back ... and still playing cricket here in Taiwan.”
In the group games on Saturday, both teams won their matches against Formosa.
PCCT beat Formosa by 16 runs. Batting first, they posted 155-6, powered by 57 off 39 by Shiv Rawat.
Amjad Zafar took 4-24 as Formosa replied with 139-8.
In the afternoon game, the Daredevils posted 188-4. Ferreira slammed 84 off 50 deliveries and Eldin Booysen was unbeaten on 66 off 35. Formosa reached 140-7 in reply.
PCCT yesterday morning crushed the Daredevils by eight wickets in the final pool game, despite Ben Dewbre’s unbeaten 50.
“We had a very spectacular T20 triangular tournament,” said Malwade, one of the organizers.
“PCCT is committed to maintaining the Yingfeng ground,” Malwade said.
The club has signed a deal with the Taipei Sports Department to manage the venue for two more years.
“We are maintaining the ground regularly and making it a heaven for all cricket-playing fans across” Taiwan, Malwade said.
“Early this year we put more soil across the ground to harden it and to make it even, and that has helped to make games more interesting, as many high-scoring games have happened,” he said. “In the coming months, we will be replacing the old mat with a new one, which will improve the cricket quality even more.”
“We are committed to provide the best cricketing experience for everyone,” he added.
Fred Kerley is competing unaugmented against drug-fuelled athletes at this weekend’s Enhanced Games and still hopes to race in the 2028 Olympics, the suspended former 100m world champion said on Friday. Arguably the biggest name at the divisive event in Las Vegas, where doping is permitted, the US sprinter said he had chosen not to take any of the banned substances including testosterone and steroids that his competitors have been using. “I don’t need it. God gave me fast feet for a reason. And I’m here to showcase my talent,” Kerley said. Kerley last September became the first US competitor and first track
MLB is experiencing an epidemic of guys being dudes. At ballparks all across the US, groups consisting of mostly young men are joining in on the “Tarps Off” trend that is loud, goofy, infectious and new to the baseball world. Joining in on the fun is simple: Go to the section where the party is happening, take off your shirt and start twirling it above your head. Soccer-like chants or singing usually follow — injecting a jolt of energy for a sport that is occasionally chided for its lack of energy inside the stadium. After getting its start in St Louis, Missouri, on
Hull City AFC are to play Middlesbrough for a place in the Premier League after Southampton on Wednesday failed in their appeal against expulsion from the Championship playoff final for spying on opponents. Southampton were thrown out of the final on Tuesday and handed a four-point deduction for next season after they had beaten semi-final opponents Middlesbrough. “The original sanction of expulsion ... remains in place, as does the four-point deduction to be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table and the reprimand in respect of all charges,” the English Football League said in a statement. The final is to be played at Wembley
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: Officials, players and fans winging across all of North America are likely to make this the most polluting World Cup ever, say scientists The largest and likely most lucrative ever World Cup this summer could set a record for the most-polluting sporting event in history, environmental experts say. “Unlike the case of the Olympic Games, where the carbon footprints have been reducing over the last several editions, this is totally opposite in the case of FIFA men’s World Cup,” said David Gogishvili, a geographer at the University of Lausanne (Unil). The summer’s World Cup has been expanded to 48 teams for the first time. It is being played in three countries — Mexico, Canada and the US — for the first time. It is going to
