Red meat, eggs and Australia’s favorite biscuit have been banned from Sydney council events under a new “cruelty free” food policy, a spokesman said last week.
“The first sign of this crazy policy came to my attention when the Tim Tams disappeared from the council meeting,” said councilor Shayne Mallard.
“When I made inquiries the staff said ‘oh no, we’ve taken Tim Tams out of council because the chocolate comes from the Ivory Coast where there’s child labor issues’,” he told AFP.

Fish is still on the menu, Mallard said, but only fish considered “appropriate for catching and consumption”, while produce had to be grown in the Sydney area.
Mallard said he was told there were fears that the chocolate coated Tim Tams — Australia’s most popular biscuit — used cocoa from plantations using child labor.
“(Tim Tams producer) Arnott’s are saying that’s not the case,” he said.

Turkey is the traditional Thanksgiving Day meal in the US. However, it is not often seen in Taiwan, as it is not traditionally part of our cuisine and not widely available in traditional markets, but Taiwanese people still have a chance to try it. One such dish is turkey rice, a popular specialty originating from Chiayi and cooked by a traditional cooking method. available (adj.) Turkey rice, as its name implies, is sliced turkey served over rice. In a remote area of South Australia lies Coober Pedy, a seemingly deserted mining town. But don’t be fooled by its surface appearance — around 60 percent of the town’s population have made their homes underground. The town was first established in the early 20th century, after a teenager found opal gemstones there. This discovery transformed the town into the world’s opal mining center, drawing miners from far and wide. The town’s unique underground community took shape as a response to the harsh climate, where average summer temperatures can soar to 38°C. Using basic mining tools, the residents dug holes
