On March 13, Petals of Compassion will hold an art auction to raise money for the Bishwa Seva Foundation to build eco-friendly homes in Nepal. There will be a live performance by Japanese sitar player Ryohei Kanemitsu and Deep Deoja, the founder of the foundation, will perform with Tibetan singing bowls. In late October of 1873 the government of Japan decided against sending a military expedition to Korea to force that nation to open trade relations.
