It was Valentine's Day and many newspapers were trailing the nation's sweetheart Lin Chi-ling (林志玲) for some zest to add to an other-wise drab week. The best that gossip hounds could find was a weird story about her being available for hire as a prostitute in London. Pictures of the country's icon with a phone number underneath were plastered all over the capital's phone boxes, along with the information, "Escort & Massage, in/out calls, hotel visit 24/7." The story was traced back to a blog on Wretch and the site was blocked when we checked. But as Lin pointed out, she hasn't been to England so the likelihood of a shag over the New Year period is probably zero, unless your name is Jerry Yan (言承旭).
The F4 singer and actor is thought to be the "special friend" that Lin was referring to when Apple Daily asked what she would be doing on Valentine's Day. She answered that she would be working but if the media got off her back she would have some time with her "friend." "Even holding hands is a luxury," she added, dampening Yan's expectations of some "cream puff in the enchanted forest."
Lin, incidentally, is Taiwan's official top totty titleholder, once again. She was the women most men would like to spend Valentine's Day with, according to a poll of 1,734 people organized by the magazine Career. Jolin Tsai (蔡依林) took second place and Rene Liu (劉若英) was third. Takashi Kaneshiro (金城武) was the women's choice of a Valentine special, even if his lack of a girlfriend and predilection for gay bars suggests he would rather be eating cream puffs in a different kind of forest. Tony Leung (梁朝偉) won the silver medal and Little Pig (小豬), also known as Alan Luo, took the bronze.
Leung's on-off girlfriend Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) is off again if the rumors are to be believed. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (鴻海精密) Chairman Terry Gou (郭台銘) has been courting the middle-aged Hong Kong star and this week bought himself NT$1 million worth of Armani apparel, according to the Liberty Times, our sister paper. Not known previously for his sartorial elegance, Gou is obviously trying to look less like a nerd. According to Forbes Gou is worth US$4.3 billion and Pop Stop wonders whether this is more attractive to Lau than some new suits and ties. After all, it is the inside that counts, isn't it?
One person who would agree with this sentiment is Taiwanese/Japanese porn star Hinano Miduki (觀月雛乃). She wrote on her blog that she had got back her rich, wandering boyfriend through the use of a NT$1,500 device containing Chinese herbs that tightens the vagina. Just five minutes, she claimed, was enough to narrow the tool of her trade and get him running back with a NT$20,000 LV purse.
