To get a glimpse of the culture and art of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, check out the Taipei City Hall Family Theater (台北市親子劇場) at 1, Shifu Rd, Taipei (台北市市府路1號) tonight at 7:30pm for Earth Message.

For the past six years, the Taipei Multicultural Arts Group (TMAG) has sponsored an annual performance showcase to highlight the songs, dances, folktales and rituals of the various tribes in an effort to introduce their legends and myths to more people in Taiwan.

TMAG says it aims to create a new vision for the country through culture, environment, art and enterprise and the language of beauty.

Alice Takiwatan, a Bunun, is the mastermind behind tonight's performance, called Earth Message, which according to the TMAG's press release, aims to convey the essential essence of the indigenous peoples and the pulse of life.

The 100-minute program will include the Original Motion Dance Group performing The Paiwan Maiden, The Lily and the Eagle, Dance for Atayal Maidens and the Tao Warriors Dance, the Abeu Indigenous Chorus' rendition of the Amis Drinking Song and the Gumute Dance Group performing a modern dance piece.

The evening will be capped off by a performance of indigenous rock `n' roll by the Formosa Huana Rock Group.

Several other organizations have helped with tonight's performance, including the Save-A-Pet Fund, the International Lion's Club and the Taipei City Longfong Lion's Club.

Tickets are NT$300 per person, although groups of four or more can get a 20 percent discount.
