Get ready to have your breath taken away this Tuesday at The Wall when the multi-talented World's End Girlfriend returns to Taipei. Last year she did a tour that went through Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei.
It's hard to define the artist's soundscapes, but electronica probably best describes the music that will be played at The Wall next week.
World's End Girlfriend hit the music scene with the release of her first album in 2000, and followed up with Farewell Kingdom and Dream's End Come True. She is currently promoting her new album, called The Lie Lay Land. The album covers a range of music, from techno, post rock, avant pop, and electronica.
World's End Girlfriend first made herself known globally when she entertained at Barcelona's Sonar music festival in 2002. The combination of gentle soundscapes and melodies, immense feedback, guitars, and skilled breakcore hard disk manipulation seduced the crowd and established her name.
At this year's Sonar music festival she played with live percussionist Kazuhisa Chikada, who will also be
turning up at The Wall.
World's End Girlfriend is at the Wall, Tuesday (Aug. 30) and costs NT$550. Call (02) 2930 0162 or visit http://the-wall.com.tw.
