Seven days after Hsiao-kang's father passes away, the house seems to be haunted by the father's ghost. Hsiao-kang's mom, however, takes up all manner of religious ideas to welcome her husband's ghost back to the house. Hsiao-kang then meets Shiang-chih on a overpass in Taipei where the latter works as a watch vendor. Shiang-chih buys Hsiao-kang's wristwatch and takes it with her to Paris. Hsiao-kang develops a strange attachment toward Shiang-chih, becomes obsessed with all things French and begins compulsively trying to adjust clocks to Paris time. In the end, Shiang-chih, Hsiao-kang and his mother unleash their emotions and the question of whether the father's ghost returns is revealed. What Time is it There? was awarded best film and best director accolades at the 46th Asia Pacific Film Festival last October.
