Cold Stone Creamery (酷聖石冰淇淋), an affiliate business of Uni-President Group (統一集團), plans to open its 27th outlet in Taiwan at the Taipei 101 shopping mall today.
Visitors to or employees at the world’s second-tallest skyscraper will now be able to enjoy ice cream when they dine at the food court in the mall’s basement, Cold Stone operations director Ann Yeh (葉曉菁) said.
The company aims to establish six more branches nationwide, Yeh told a press conference to announce promotion packages for Cold Stone, which will celebrate its third anniversary in Taiwan on Friday.
The company is adding flavors to its product line by offering light food — including sandwiches and bread — at its Banciao concept store.
Depending on customer feedback, the light food concept could be replicated at other outlets, Yeh said.
Uni-President launched the Cold Stone brand in China a few months prior to its debut in Taiwan.
It operates 46 outlets in major Chinese cities. The group also operates the Starbucks Coffee and Mister Donut chains in Taiwan and China.
Taiwan Transport and Storage Corp (TTS, 台灣通運倉儲) yesterday unveiled its first electric tractor unit — manufactured by Volvo Trucks — in a ceremony in Taipei, and said the unit would soon be used to transport cement produced by Taiwan Cement Corp (TCC, 台灣水泥).
