Palm Computing KK, the Japan-ese unit of Palm Inc, will slash the price of its least expensive handheld computer model in Japan by more than half to attract holiday shoppers amid slack consumer demand.
From December to February, the biggest maker of handheld computers will sell its m100 handheld for ?4,900 (US$40), down from a current retail price of ?12,800, the company said.
Palm will also lower the price on its m500 to ?24,800 and its m505 model to ?34,800.
Retailers of handheld computers from Palm and rivals such as Sharp Corp have used price cuts this year to stimulate consumer demand.
