The Taoyuan Airport MRT is to run an additional train from Taipei to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport starting from Monday next week to help ease congestion during the weekday evening commute, its operator said yesterday.
The additional train would depart Taipei Main Station (A1) at 6:04pm on weekdays, stopping at every station along the way before reaching Airport Terminal 2 Station (A13) at 6:50pm, Taoyuan Metro said in a statement.
With the additional service, trains from Taipei Main Station to the airport would depart every 5.5 minutes on average between 6pm and 7pm, compared with every six minutes at present, Taoyuan Metro said.

Passengers who board the new 6:04pm train and plan to continue to Taoyuan HSR Station (A18) or toward Taoyuan's Zhongli District (中壢) can get off at Airport Terminal 2 Station (A13) and transfer to a subsequent train from there, it said.
Through the end of last month, average daily ridership on the Taoyuan Airport MRT reached a record high of 130,681, Taoyuan Metro said.
Aside from travelers, weekday evening trains are frequently used by students and workers commuting from Taipei Main Station to residential areas in New Taipei City’s Xinzhuang District (新莊區) and Taoyuan’s Linkou (林口) and Guishan (龜山) districts, it added.
