National Taiwan University (NTU) College of Medicine Dean Wu Ming-shiang (吳明賢) today reportedly experienced out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and was rushed to Taipei Medical University Hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to NTU Hospital.
Wu served as superintendent of NTU Hospital from August 2020 to July last year and has been dean at the College of Medicine since August last year.
Reports emerged today that he was in a critical condition and NTU Hospital confirmed that he was undergoing treatment after being transferred there from Taipei Medical University Hospital.

Wu’s situation still needs to be continuously assessed by the medical team, NTU Hospital spokesperson Chen Yen-yuan (陳彥元) said.
Due to patient privacy Chen was unable to provide further details.
Wu, 62, is a well-known domestic expert in gastroenterology, hepatology and biliary diseases.
He is an active Facebook user, and in a post just two days ago, he said that the nationwide recruitment rate for internal medicine residents in Taiwan was only 61 percent this year.
