A suspected outbreak of food poisoning yesterday at Janfusun Fancyworld amusement park in Yunlin County has led 70 visitors from a junior-high school to seek medical attention, the Yunlin County Public Health Bureau said today.
About 600 students and teachers from Ping Jhen Junior High School in Taoyuan visited the park yesterday afternoon and ate dinner at one of the restaurants, it said.
One teacher and 69 students then fell ill, with symptoms including nausea and gastrointestinal issues first appearing at 1am or 2am this morning, and more appearing by 8am, it said.

The amusement park’s restaurant has self-reported to the bureau and assisted in transferring the students to National Cheng Kung University Hospital’s Douliu Branch and two medical clinics, it added.
The conditions of all those affected have improved, with the majority departing for Taoyuan at 2pm, it added.
As of 3:30pm, all patients had been discharged from the hospital, it said.
The park’s hotel also provided sports drinks and plain porridge to feed students as they recovered, it said.
The bureau said it has sent personnel to the restaurant to investigate the cause of the outbreak and collect samples, which have since been sent to the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control.
A report would be released within the next two weeks, it said.
This marks the fourth major food safety incident in Taiwan in the past two weeks, following salmonella outbreaks at a spring roll vendor in Kaohsiung and a lunchbox chain in New Taipei City, as well as another as-yet-unspecified outbreak linked to another lunchbox restaurant in Taoyuan reported yesterday.
