Sunny skies and warmer daytime temperatures are expected in Taiwan from tomorrow through Monday next week as a cold air mass gradually weakens, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said today.
While maximum temperatures across Taiwan are forecast to rise slightly today, overall conditions would remain cool, Wu said.
Forecast highs and lows for today range from 10°C to 17°C in the north, 8°C to 23°C in central Taiwan, 7°C to 25°C in the south and 10°C to 24°C in the east, he said.

Over the weekend, temperatures are expected to continue rising as the cold air mass weakens further, bringing warmer daytime conditions, while mornings and nights would remain chilly, Wu said.
Stable and mostly clear skies are forecast for the west, while eastern Taiwan and eastern parts of Taipei and New Taipei City might experience occasional localized rain, he said.
Clear skies and warm weather are expected nationwide on Monday, although large day-night temperature swings are likely, Wu said.
Another northeast monsoon system is forecast to arrive on Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures, along with increased cloud cover and rain to northern and eastern Taiwan, he added.

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said a magnitude 4.9 earthquake that struck off the coast of eastern Taiwan yesterday was an independent event and part of a stress-adjustment process. The earthquake occurred at 4:47pm, with its epicenter at sea about 45.4km south of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 5.9km, the CWA said.
