A delegation from the Danish parliament is visiting Taiwan for a second year in a row, looking to discuss regional security and promote closer bilateral ties, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said today.
Led by Kasper Roug, vice chairman of the Parliamentary Taiwan Friendship Group, the four-member delegation also includes Thomas Jensen, Alex Ahrendtsen and Morten Klessen, all members of the Folketing, Denmark's unicameral national legislature, MOFA said in a statement.
The visit, which is to last until Friday, is meant to gain a first-hand understanding of Taiwan's political and economic developments, the cross-Taiwan Strait situation and regional security, in order to promote closer Taiwan-Denmark exchanges on all fronts, MOFA said.

During their five-day visit, the group is to meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), and attend a banquet hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu (吳志中).
The delegates is also scheduled to meet with Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang (江啟臣), Deputy Defense Minister Po Horng-huei (柏鴻輝) and Energy Administration Deputy Director-General Chen Chung-hsien (陳崇憲).
They are scheduled to visit the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, the Taiwan Space Agency and the Taiwan FactCheck Center as well, MOFA said.
The last time a group of Danish parliamentarians visited Taiwan was in November last year. At the time, MOFA said it was the first group of Danish parliamentarians to come to Taiwan since 2019.
Eight Chinese naval vessels and 24 military aircraft were detected crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait between 6am yesterday and 6am today, the Ministry of National Defense said this morning. The aircraft entered Taiwan’s northern, central, southwestern and eastern air defense identification zones, the ministry said. The armed forces responded with mission aircraft, naval vessels and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor the situation, it added. Eight naval vessels, one official ship and 36 aircraft sorties were spotted in total, the ministry said.
