The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued advisories for torrential rain in hilly areas of Taipei, warning that some places could experience "extremely torrential rain."
As of 7am today, 62 people had been evacuated from the city's Nangang (南港), Shilin (士林), Wenshan (文山) and Neihu (內湖) districts and other areas deemed to be at risk of flooding and landslides, the Taipei City Government said.
The CWA defines "extremely torrential rain" as accumulated rainfall of 500mm or more within 24 hours, and "torrential rain" as accumulated rainfall of 350mm or more within the same period, or more than 200mm within three hours.

The CWA today also warned of extremely heavy or torrential rain in Keelung, New Taipei City, Yilan County and non-mountainous areas of Taipei.
The CWA warnings extended to mountainous areas of Hsinchu County and Taoyuan, where heavy to extremely heavy rain is expected, while heavy rain advisories were issued for Miaoli and Hualien counties, and low-lying areas in Hsinchu County and Taoyuan.
The heavy rains are due to the combined effects of seasonal northeasterly winds and the periphery of Tropical Storm Fengshen, which was west-southwest of Taiwan and moving away from Taiwan, the CWA said.
Meanwhile, cooler weather was expected across northern and northeastern Taiwan today, with temperatures ranging between 22°C and 25°C, the CWA said.

China’s Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO) spokesman Chen Binhua (陳斌華) said the program aims to facilitate travel to China for Taiwanese compatriots, regardless of whether they are arriving via direct flights or are entering mainland China through Hong Kong, Macau or other countries, and they would be able to apply for a single-entry visa-on-arrival at all eligible entry points in China. The policy aims
